Selwyn Village Chapel Install

10 December 2009

Selwyn Village is 10.5 hectare (26 acre) retirement jewel next to Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour, in the central, sought after suburb, of Point Chevalier.  Its unique, park-like setting with mature gardens extends to the water’s edge.  The views are magnificent, and the lifestyle lives up to its promise.

Selwyn Village has a rich history as one of the first retirement villages in New Zealand and offers a vast array of amenities such as cafe’s, mini markets, a theatre and chapel.

Recently, Matt Haines of Haines MediaPro completed the task of upgrading the chapel’s sound system. Due to the age of the audience, it involved paying special attention to coverage and intelligibility for those with hearing impairments. Strong speech was a requirement, with background music kept to a minimum.
The best solution was installing a 100V system to achieve uniform coverage and intelligibility. A total of seven QSC AD-S52T surface mount speakers were distributed throughout the chapel, powered by an Inter-M PA-2312 amplifier. An Inter-M PP-9213 mixer pre-amplifier and a QSC DSP-3 digital signal processing module were also installed. For speech, Shure MX418 lecturn microphones were chosen as well as a PGX14 wireless lapel microphone system.
