Manurewa Intermediate School, officially opened in 1962, is a large multicultural school, located in central Manurewa, Auckland. The arrival of new principal, Iain Taylor, at the end of 2008 has seen vast improvements and upgrades taking place throughout the school.
Recently, Tri-State Electrical were involved with upgrading the sound system in the Drama/Dance Studio. They were previously using a very small, inexpensive home Hi-Fi system, which wasn’t giving them the desired coverage for their requirements. The customer wanted a system that could be permanently installed and didn’t take up a lot of space.

A pair of Inter-M SE-8 speakers, powered by an EMI-300 amplifier, were selected for the job. However the lack of framing in the walls proved to be a hindrance when mounting the speakers. Working with the client, they were able to find an appropriate mounting position which met practical, aesthetic and acoustic requirements.

An SLX Wireless system was selected, with a headworn microphone to assist the teacher when directing a class. To complete the installation, a Tascam CD200i rack-mountable CD player was installed for all their musical requirements.
