09 July 2010

NEW! CasaTunes Version 2.7

CasaTunes v2.7 includes support for the popular RadioTime music service, an Internet radio service with over 60,000 channels of music, talk, programming, news, events and sports, all organized for easy browsing or searching of your favorite stations. Each CasaTunes Player can be tuned to a different RadioTime channel.

RadioTime brings a large amount of world wide programming and is a welcome addition for our rapidly growing non-US customer base.

You can also access RadioTime on the web at
www.RadioTime.com. Although not required, you can personalize RadioTime by creating a free account. Once you have created a free RadioTime account, CasaTunes can use this information to improve your RadioTime experience by more accurately pinpointing the radio stations for your local area and by allowing you to save, organize and share your RadioTime favorites or "My Presets”.

We have updated our SHOUTcast music service to support the new SHOUTcast 2.0 API's from AOL. These API’s provide access to better programming and a more reliable service.

Configurable Music Services

With the new release you can now enable or disable individual music services. For example, you can configure whether to enable iTunes, Windows Media, iPod, custom internet radio stations, SHOUTcast and RadioTime music services.

Finally, this release also includes new infrastructure in the CasaTunes code base which will make it much easier and quicker to add several new online music services in the very near future.

New Pronto User Interface

We are very excited to offer our new Pronto User Interface for CasaTunes whole house music systems using the latest Philips Pronto remote controls.

The CasaTunes ProntoScript application provides yet another option for controlling CasaTunes music servers and will be very familiar to existing CasaTunes users providing many of the same capabilities as the existing browser and iPhone applications.

The CasaTunes ProntoScript application makes it extremely easy to configure listening to music throughout the home, or certain rooms within a home. Since the Pronto controllers are universal remote controls, they can also be programmed to control other devices in the home.

The CasaTunes ProntoScript application works with the Philip's Pronto TSU9400, TSU9600, and TSU9800 programmable remote controls, so you have a choice of convenient handheld controllers in landscape or portrait orientation as well as a powerful wall mounted controller.

Support for Multiple iPod Devices

This new CasaTunes release now includes support for connecting multiple iPod type devices to the CasaTunes music server. You can play any music collection on any of these devices on any CasaTunes Player. CasaTunes supports any combination of iPod, iPod touch, iPad and pre-iPhone 4 devices. Support for the new iPhone 4 will be available in a future release.

Casatunes for iTunes on Mac

We now offer the capability to synchronize your iTunes music that resides on one or more Mac’s with your CasaTunes Music Server. This complements our existing support for synchronizing iTunes music on Windows PC’s with our music servers.

With this added capability, we are now able to offer CasaTunes music servers for Apple-only homes. You can use Safari and FireFox browsers on the Mac to select your music, iPod devices for music playback, CasaTunesSync for synchronizing your iTunes music collections from one or more Mac's, and LogMeIn for the Mac for remote administration of your CasaTunes Music Server. This solution, when combined with our popular iPhone and iPod touch user interface, provides a great Apple centric solution.

IP Control for Advanced CasaTunes Integration

We have extended the CasaTunes Serial Protocol to support TCP/IP. You can now control CasaTunes using the same easy to use CasaTunes Serial Protocol and eliminate the need for serial communications hardware, thereby simplifying the installation and providing greater remote access.

Enhanced Browser Based Music Selection

We have enhanced the browser experience for selecting music. This is the first step in updating the browser User Interface. Not only have we significantly improved the performance of the music selection process, but we have also made it easier to browse your different music collections, made it easy to quickly filter and search your music collections, and greatly simplified selecting and playing multiple specific music items. We have also improved our album cover artwork display to support auto-sizing of cover art. You can override the auto-sizing feature and customize the size of your cover art to best match your browsing device, or even opt to not display album cover images.
